While working at EK Architects in Manchester (UK) we won the competition for the Liverpool City Council "Building Schools of the Future" programs.
Cardinal Heenan & Broughton Hall High Schools
Two schools adjacent each other, located in West Derby, NE Liverpool. Accommodating around 1300 pupils each. The brief was to refurbish/remodel the older parts of the schools and link them to each other with a series of new wings. The primary design intent was to create flexibility in every space while providing comfortable and exciting learning environments. Transformational teaching elements are dispersed throughout the facility, including a cutting edge arts and design tech program that has an integrated gallery and technology suite that utilizes the corridor. The three story educational / classroom component has views to the outdoor sports facilities. This facility is designed to BREEAM Standards, the British equivalent to LEED [Silver].
